IAC is a sponsor at this year's 27th Annual Bill Mounkes Charity Golf Tournament on July 30 at Sunflower Hills Golf Course in Bonner Springs, KS. Father and daughter IAC employees, Russ Maloney and Morgan Maloney, have close ties to the cause, which has raised over $224,000 for Children’s Mercy over the last 12 years. Russ Maloney, IAC Field Service Manager, has been a golf player in the tournament since it began and is on the Board Member Planning Committee alongside his wife Jill Maloney. IAC has been a sponsor of the tournament since Russ started at the company years ago.

“This tournament began as a memorial event founded by Bill’s brother-in-law and parents 27 years ago to keep his memory alive after he passed. Bill was a dear friend of mine since childhood growing up in Shawnee Mission, KS. I feel very lucky to be involved and on the committee for such a meaningful gathering every year that brings together family and friends to honor the life of Bill Mounkes and raise money for a great cause. It means a lot to me that IAC has been a sponsor for years and supported this event”, Russ says.

Morgan has been a volunteer at the tournament for the past 6 years. “Every year I enjoy getting to see all of my Dad’s friends from childhood and seeing their kids grow up alongside me. We have all became one big family and it has all happened by keeping Bill’s memory alive, it’s amazing to be a part of” she says.

Based on a list of needs provided by Children’s Mercy, a portion of the 2020 tournament proceeds were used for the purchase of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) with additional funding being allocated for suicide prevention via Children’s Mercy’s Psychosocial Screening Program. This included masks, protective clothing, face shields, and eye protection used to protect patients, their families and staff from the Covid-19 virus. The Psychosocial Screening Program provides screening and intervention services for adolescents who are dealing with such challenges.

2021 tournament proceeds will be going towards the purchase of a new transport ventilator for the Transport team as well as to the suicide prevention via Children’s Mercy’s Psychosocial Screening Program.

Throughout the years, the tournament has funded such items as a Hemochron unit, “Kidzpace Touch2play Fun Centers”, expansion of the neonatal intensive care unit at Adele Hall Campus in KC, MO; EKG/ECG machine for the specialty clinic location on Broadway, hearing aids, a bronchotron pneumatic ventilator in an ambulance, a transcutaneous CO2 monitor, and more.

IAC is proud to support this tournament that brings together hundreds of family members and friends year after year to support a great cause and keep Bill Mounkes memory alive.
