IAC Solves Dust Collection and Ducting Issues at Industrial Sand Plant

After a successful Baghouse 101 In-Plant Seminar was given by IAC’s Director of Business Development, IAC began working with an industrial sand plant to find the cause of a recent decrease in their productivity. IAC was then hired to complete an Engineering Inspection of the facility by IAC’s Plant Optimization team of engineers. The team formed an extensive report outlining the issues the customer was having and provided solution options.

IAC Provides RCS & Mitigation Solutions to Brick Manufacturing Plant

Working with various industries over the last couple years, IAC has been successful in creating and implementing Respirable Crystalline Silica (RCS) Mitigation action plans to help reduce silica dust exposure in work environments and surrounding areas to comply with new silica regulations. Recently, IAC’s RCS Mitigation Plan proved to be successful for a brick manufacturing facility. Working closely with the customer, IAC completed post plan and installation testing. Upon following up, IAC and the customer found that the plant’s silica exposure levels are now well below the action level.

OSHA’S Fixed Ladder Rule Changes

In January of 2017, OSHA revised the industry regulations pertaining to fixed ladders and fall protection. Previously, OSHA standard 1910.27 covered fixed ladders, and it required cages on fixed ladders where the climb is over 20 feet (6.10 m) high. With the 2017 revision, fixed ladders were moved under OSHA’s standard 1910.28, which amends the rule on height so that fixed ladders will only be required to have fall protection if their height is greater than 24 feet (7.3 m) above a lower level.
